The 4th Nordic Junior Piano Competition – 2027 Edition

is open to pianists who are either Nordic citizens or residing in Nordic countries.

Results of Pre-selection in the evening by: around March 2027 (to be announced)
Final round (live, in-person): to be announced
Rules & Regulations
Applications must include a completed application form, including uploads of:
Links to video performances uploaded to either YouTube, links of which should be provided directly in the application form (repertoire requirements can be found in Categories page)
Please make sure that the video is either public or unlisted before submitting your application
Passport, national ID or birth certificate, as proof of age
One high-resolution colour headshot photograph (300 dpi or higher), suitable for publicity purposes
An acknowledgment will be sent to each applicant upon receipt of the completed Application Form with all enclosures and paid application fee.
Individual movements of larger works are permitted. Each piece or movement on your recording may be recorded separately.
All works must be performed from memory.
The competition is open only to pianists who are citizens of or have permanent residence in a Nordic country (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, or the Faroe Islands).
All applicants must submit a nonrefundable application fee payable together with the application:
Young Artists (Ages 15-19, inclusive): € 100
Young Talents (Ages 11-15, inclusive): € 80
A maximum of 12 finalists will be accepted to the live, in-person finals of each category, in total 24 finalists.
By applying to the Nordic International Junior Piano Competition/Nordic International Youth Piano Festival, applicants give the rights for the competition to stream their videos on our pages on Facebook, YouTube and other streaming channels as well keeping the YouTube-recording on YouTube.
The competition will accept no responsibility for applications not received.
It is not allowed to play concerto with piano in the Finals, but allowed to record for the video pre-selection.
All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee and treated as confidential. The Nordic Junior Piano Competition will never sell any information to third parties.
All results are final.
Age requirements
Young Artists (Ages 15-19, inclusive): Born between 14 April 2007 and 13 April 2012
Young Talents (Ages 11-15, inclusive): Born between 14 April 2011 and 13 April 2016
Candidates aged 15 may choose to compete in either the Young Talents or Young Artists categories.
Video recording requirements
In preselection you may play by score if you wish, but in Finals you have to play by memory (unless it's a very complicated contemporary piece where you can have exception from the competition comittee).
It is not permitted to do cuts in the video recording, within a movement of a piece.
You may send a video link for each piece in the application if you wish.
Finals
You may not include the same repertoire in the finals on site in Arvika as on pre-selection round on video.
Young Artists (Ages 15-19, inclusive): up to 25 minutes of program maximum
Young Talents (Ages 11-15, inclusive): up to 20 minutes of program maximum
